Major bleeding and VTE recurrences
According to the guidelines, most VTE patients should receive the same anticoagulant therapy.
But, is it the most effective and safe therapy for most of them? Does anticoagulant therapy provide a balance between VTE recurrences and major bleeds, independently of the clinical characteristics, initial VTE presentation or presence of comorbidities?
Data from the real life RIETE Registry reveal that tailored therapy might be a better option, since a number of variables may influence on the balance between VTE recurrences and major bleeding.
